DIY Quote Scarf

When I saw this scarf on Pinterest, I knew I had to try and make one for myself.  This project is super easy although a little time consuming.

What you'll need:
  • scarf
  • tea bags and bowl of warm water (optional)
  • Sharpie
  • A selection of poems, quotes, or lyrics
Step #1
I chose to tint a white scarf that I already owned and used tea to give it a beautiful creamy color.  Soak the scarf in warm water along with three or four tea bags.  Leave for a couple of hours; then, ring out scarf and let it dry completely.

Step #2
When the scarf is dry, it's time to start writing.  I chose selections from Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte.  Don't worry about neat handwriting or making mistakes.  Sloppy cursive and ink stains add character.

Et voila!  You are ready to wrap yourself in inspiration and take on the world.

    1. I haven't tried washing the scarf yet, but I would probably hand wash it in cold water.

  11. Dont wash it in the machine with Sharpies. I made my son a "happy Birthday grandma" shirt and it was a mess haha.
I tried this too, and I had trouble with the marker and material catching. I would have had to stretch it out a bit, what did you do?

  13. I made this for Christmas presents, used Sharpie, but used a material stretcher for needlepoint so I could write. Turned out beautiful, and my sister and daughter loved it.
